“Chris and Augusta of Cultural Animal did an amazing job creating a film on culture shock and re-entry shock for us. With JOURNEYING HOME, they completely exceeded our expectations. They combined complex content, interviews with students, and instruction from experts to create an engaging story that really speaks to our audience. The film continues to sell very well, and we are gratified to know it has been helpful to thousands of study abroad students who struggle with these issues. We could not recommend Cultural Animal more highly!”

“Cultural Animal’s short, “A is for Aye-Aye” is a joyful film that champions discovery and creativity at the New York Public Library. The playful narrative highlights the serendipity of searching for subjects in the Picture Collection. Lucky for us, Augusta Palmer furthered the viewing experience by facilitating a series of collage and stop-motion animation workshops for adults, families, and librarians across the branches of the New York Public Library. The relationship between the Picture Collection and the film became a tactile and engaging entrance point for people of all ages interested in visual literacy, using the library, and the film-making process.”

Supervising Librarian, NYPL Picture Collection

“Augusta Palmer observes her subjects with a loving eye and a lifetime of editorial and technical discipline. Her films are expertly structured and beautiful to see. She spent many days with the founder of our artist-endowed foundation, Leo Rabkin (1919-2015), in his final months of life. Augusta’s engaged and sensitive mind discovered humor, wit and serious purpose in Rabkin’s dwindling days as an artist. Her several short films became documents of a collaboration between a brilliant ninety-two-year-old and a benevolent young witness who created a lasting historical record we use in our exhibitions, websites and educational programs. We are fortunate and proud to include Augusta Palmer’s wonderful work in our foundations artistic programs and communications with the world. She added so much to Leo’s life and to generations of young artists who have been inspired by the spirit and beauty of Augusta’s films.”
